Between 2022 and 2024, Legacy for the Territories directly benefited 7,671 people across rural and underserved regions of Colombia, generating measurable impact across three dimensions: education, economic inclusion, and social equity.
Educational Impact: The program enabled access to high-quality training in English, Big Data, climate change, energy transition, and digital skills, with high certification rates.
Economic Impact: Participants strengthened their capabilities for formal employment and developed sustainable entrepreneurship initiatives.
Social Impact: The program prioritized historically excluded groups through inclusive outreach and local partnerships. Of all beneficiaries, 42% are women, 9% identify as LGBTIQ+, 3% are persons with disabilities, and 3% belong to ethnic communities.
The program enhanced GEB’s reputation as a socially responsible energy leader. It implemented a robust monitoring and evaluation framework and commissioned an independent study, which estimated a return of 5:1. Social Return on Investment (SROI)
It also leveraged over USD 2.5 million in additional resources through partnerships with organizations such as the British Council, U.S. State Department, and Fundación Santo Domingo, demonstrating strong cross-sector collaboration and scalability.
