Press Release N° 3

Bogotá, Colombia, 29 August 2012

Empresa de Energía de Bogotá informs that the statements made by El Tiempo newspaper today, in its section Bogota, are not true, as regards the origin of the event that took place on August 25 where the Tunal – Circo, Tunal – San Mateo transmission line was affected, where it quotes: "However, a source related to the case explained that this incident could be related to the collection of an insurance policy."

We, emphatically deny such reckless and biased statement, and reiterate that only the authorities are called to establish and inform, through pertinent channels, the results of the investigation, provided that EEB, as a public utility company, proceeded immediately  and complied with all protocols put in place for cases such as this one.

Also, as it is legally established in this type of felonies, EEB has made a formal complaint as a victim, so that all invetigations are duly carried out and the perpetrators identified.

It seems absurd and irresponsible only to suggest that this event relates in any way with the purpose of "collecting an insurance policy", EEB is duly insured as regards its electricity transmission infrastructure. Which means that what the Communication Media suggested is that the beneficiary of the policy is the Company itself, which we consider a false accusation and affect the reputation of Empresa de Energía de Bogotá and the responsible manner in which we carry out our operation and activities, both in the country and internationally.
