- The firm assessed 2,686 companies from 60 industries from all over the world.
Bogota, D.C., February 18, 2018. For the second year in a row, Grupo Energía Bogotá was included in RobecoSAM’s Sustainability Yearbook for 2019, the firm which assessed the sustainability performance of 2,686 companies worldwide in 60 productive sectors using the Dow Jones Sustainability Index. This is one of the most important global recognitions for sustainability management.
GEB has placed in the Dow Jones’ Index for seven consecutive years and this is the second time placing in the Yearbook, a particularly noteworthy achievement as this publication lists only 15% of the companies with the best sustainability performance.
The Yearbook is a global circulation publication which allows markets to identify the companies who base their value construction on this topic.
For Astrid Álvarez, Chairwoman of Grupo Energía Bogotá, this result “ratifies GEB’s commitment to building a genuine relationship with communities: our indigenous women in Guatemala, archeological patrimony conservation in Peru, Colombia and Guatemala, and the development of social initiatives in electric power transmission, such as the Bolívar-Cartagena project, where we implemented 17 programs alongside the region’s people.”
The Dow Jones is the most internationally recognized sustainability index, analyzing leading companies’ performance in social, environmental and economic aspects. It was created in 1999 with an aim to recognize companies with high standards on these topics.
