EEB reopens again its international bond and issues an additional US$27 million

  • EEB carried out its second reopening of the international bond expiring in 2021, by issuing and additional of US$ 27 million under the same financial conditions of its successful reopening conducted last 15 November.

 

  • With this transaction, the new nominal amount of EEB’s 2021 bond is in the aggregate of US$749 million, including US$112 million of its first reopening and US$610 million of the initial issuance. 

Bogotá, D.C., 27 November 2013. For the second time this month, Empresa de Energía de Bogotá S.A. E.S.P reaches the international capital market through a successful reopening of its bond expiring in November 2021, by means of a private placement led by Deutsche Bank. The nominal amount of this second reopening reached US$27 million, under the same financial conditions as the transaction conducted on November 15.  This reopening is totally fungible with bonds issued in the original transaction amounting to US$610 million and US$112 million issued on 15 November 2013.

Funds from the reopening of 15 November, totaling US$112 million and those obtained today for US$27million, a total of US$ 139 million, together with additional resources from the company’s cash generation will be used to finance investments in transmission projects that Grupo Energia de Bogota currently undertakes in Guatemala. Thus, the new nominal amount of EEB’s 2021 bond reaches US$749 million, having received an investment grade by Moody’s and Fitch.

Mrs. Sandra Stella Fonseca, CEO of Grupo Energía de Bogotá, highlighted that “initial appetite shown by investors and the trust in the financial soundness of the Group, was our main driver to place additional resources to finance our expansion plan”.
