EEB will build the connection of Ecopetrol to the STN for the operation of Castilla and Chichimene fields
14 April 2015
- This construction is of significant relevance for Ecopetrol as its growth strategy in heavy crude oil is based on the direct operation of these fields.
Bogotá D.C., 14 April 2015.Empresa de Energía de Bogotá (EEB), parent company of Grupo Energía de Bogotá, was awarded a project that will allow Ecopetrol to connect its infrastructure to the National Transmission System (STN) to strengthen reliability of its operations in the fields of Castilla and Chichimene, in the Colombian Eastern Plains.
The project includes the connection to the STN in La Reforma 230kV substation located in Villavicencio (Meta), the construction of a new substation named San Fernando 230kV, located in the municipality of Castilla La Nueva and the construction of a transmission line with an approximate length of 36 kilometres, to connect these two substations.
This construction is highly relevant due to the fact that the growth strategy of Ecopetrol in heavy crude oil has as main projects the direct operation of the Castilla and Chichimene fields in the department of Meta, producing around 200,000 barrels per day.
EEB was selected by Ecopetrol to develop this project, in the closed tender No. 50042531, which includes the construction, administration, operation and maintenance for 20 years, considering that EEB submitted the best offer amounting to a net present value of Col$80.245 million.
Mr. Ricardo Roa Barragán, CEO of Grupo Energía de Bogotá, pointed out that this new achievement is in line with the growth and expansion plan proposed for this year. “We are proud and have a great commitment to develop this project, as with this project we will reinforce Ecopetrol operations in the Eastern Plains, a region acknowledged in the country as one of the greatest oil producers”.
Similarly, EEB is currently undertaking the construction of the following national transmission projects, such as: tender offers UPME STR 07-2014 Río Córdoba 220/110 kV, Tesalia-Alférez, Armenia, Chivor-Norte, Cartagena-Bolívar, Río Córdoba at 230 kV, Sogamoso and Refuerzo Suroccidente at 500 Kv.
