12 June 2015

  • Electric power service is being rendered to Bogota and the Departments of Cundinamarca and Meta
  • To date, there have been three towers affected

Bogotá, D.C., 12 June 2015. Empresa de Energía de Bogotá S.A. ESP (EEB) informs that today Friday at 4:41 a.m., energy tower No. 26, which is part of the Guavio-La Reforma / Guavio-Tunal circuit, in the township of San Antonio, rural area of the municipality of Medina, Cundinamarca was brought down. Likewise, tower No. 27 of that same circuit was also affected.

Last Wednesday 10th June, energy tower No. 104, which is part of the Guavio-La Reforma / Guavio-Tunal circuit, in the township of Arenales, rural area of the municipality of Medina, Cundinamarca was brought down. On Thursday 11 June, at 5:30 p.m., that same tower was repaired.

In despite of such attacks, electric power service has not been affected yet in the city of Bogota or in the departments of Cundinamarca and Meta. EEB is working hard to avoid restrictions to the power service.

EBB has specialized technical resources in place to access the area where the tower was brought down, provided authorities are able to guarantee security of its personnel. The company expects to begin repairs on the affected infrastructure, as soon as possible.

The company cautioned that in the event this situation were to continue, the supply of electric power service in the central region of the country could be put at risk and it could cause power generation restrictions that may lead to over costs in the operation of the system.
