Grupo Energía de Bogotá Presented Proposals on Urban Development in Colombia Inside Out, held in London

- GEB’s CEO, Astrid Alvarez, assured the existence of great opportunities for service companies to contribute to create sustainable cities.
Bogota D.C., June 13th, 2017. Astrid Alvarez, CEO of Grupo Energia de Bogota (GEB), explained the Group’s challenges and projections from now to 2025, as well as its great proposals for the achievement of more sustainable cities, during her participation in the panel on“Competitiveness and Urban Development”,within the framework of the event Colombia Inside Out, held in London. This initiative intends to promote internationalization of the capital market and attract new investors to the country.
In this event, Astrid Alvarez explained the Group has undertaken a great effort to comply with the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) guidelines. “I am so proud to say that we have complied with almost 90% of these guidelines. As CEO, this has been a top priority and I believe GEB will be a more transparent, technical and modern organization”.
Regarding urban development, Alvarez pointed out the existence of great potential for service companies to contribute to create and develop sustainable cities, especially in Latin America, a region providing great opportunities. In this context, GEB has been exploring alternatives in renewable energies, especially in solar and wind energy.
“The Group is already responsible for the distribution of natural gas in Lima and a significant part of the electric power and gas in Bogota. We are also actively engaged in the development of massive transportation solutions for gas in these two cities. Likewise, we are actively collaborating in the development of intelligent energy systems, as well as contributing to the infrastructure needs of the new subway for the country’s capital city, among other initiatives”.
Grupo Energía de Bogotá is focused on massive transportation solutions aimed at reducing emission levels and improving life quality. For instance, in Lima, GEB is installing gas stations and loading stations for buses and automobiles; likewise, in Bogota, GEB is actively engaged in regulations to prepare the city for a new generation of electric and gas buses.
In the panel on“Competitiveness and Urban Development”, Alvarez was accompanied by Beatriz Arbelaez, Secretary of Finance of Bogota; Rodrigo Aguilera, Analyst of the Latin American Team inThe Economist;Carlos Angulo, CEO of Patrimonio Estrategias Inmobiliarias; and Lucio Rubio, Country Manager of Enel Colombia.
This event will also take place in New York City, next June 16th, where the most important Colombian corporate leaders, issuers of securities, authorities and investors will gather once more to find new opportunities to promote development in Colombia and the securities market.
